CDR028: The stories surrounding Civic Duty Records’ first recording artist Eddie Entropy are impossibly varied and largely improbable. In recent years, after mounting attorney fees Eddie was declared deceased. However, some time after his supposed demise, a box of cassette master tapes was left at the doorstep of the Civic Duty Records head office. This EP is the first release to dip into the contents of those cursed tapes.

The title track and remix of “Ghoulie’s Lament” was recorded as a musical exploration of the existential angst driving the actions of the titular monsters of the z-grade horror movie series “Ghoulies”. Many recall Eddie hunched over a bean sandwich recounting in depth the plot details of Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College. “The Same Eyes” a retro electro-banger for the gravewave set. Some say that the song alludes to a failed attempt to smuggle cocaine across state lines inside shipments of dolls’ glass eyes. Finally “Unused Theme” had claims to be an alternate theme created to Charles Band’s “Head of the Family” movie - but the veracity of that claim has never been verified.

I liked 20 out of 30 tracks. While maybe not my favorite Diskette Park album it’s still got a lot of great music. I have about 3 favorite tracks: Success School, The Window, and Extra Man. Special mention of Z Cavaricci for reminding me when I was a kid in the late 80’s/ early 90’s and it was hard to get cool clothes when you were a fat kid. Those pleated pants and shorts were cool for a short period of time and I actually got a pair shorts in my size! AC Slater wore them on Saved By The Bell. Dionysus Virus
